First mutual equity fund linked to lithium mining stocks
The S-BOX Lithium Total Return Index has been calculated since November 2009. It tracks the performance of a maximum of 25 of the largest listed companies at any one time whose main business operations are exploration, mining and/or investing in lithium. The main constituents are companies based in Canada and the United States. Australian stocks are included as well. Commodity Capital AG will bring its mining expertise to the index composition. As the index advisor, Commodity Capital AG is responsible for compiling the selection pool of eligible companies.
Investors are currently focusing on lithium. Lithium is a very important commodity which is principally used in the production of batteries and which is also said to be an essential element in the development of electric and hybrid cars. The increasing demand from the automobile industry in particular therefore turns lithium into an interesting asset for investors. The Structured Solutions Lithium Index Strategy Fund offers investors the opportunity to benefit from this trend through this diversified investment in lithium mining companies.
Tobias Tretter, Chief Executive of Commodity Capital AG said: “Up to now there were no adequate investment vehicles for investors to participate in the performance of lithium, which is one of the most exiting commodity trends at the moment. We see a lot of potential in this area in the next couple of years. We are therefore very happy to bring our knowledge to this project as an index advisor.”
Steffen Scheuble, CEO of Structured Solutions AG, added: “The new Structured Solutions SICAV gives us the possibility to broaden our product range in addition to certificates and ETFs we already provide. We are now able to launch passive index fund investment in a very efficient and flexible manner, which allows us to pick up new and exciting investment ideas whilst giving investors access to it.”
Stefan Schneider, Chief Executive of Hauck & Aufhäuser Investment Gesellschaft S.A., said: “We look forward to working together with Structured Solutions AG on this project. We believe that the concept of passive fund investment will become increasing more popular . Therefore we see a great deal of potential in including this segment as part of our services.”
The Structured Solutions Lithium Index Strategy Fund is aimed both at institutional and private investors alike. The fund has been launched in Luxembourg and also has public distribution rights in Germany and Austria. The subscription surcharge is five percent.
